1. You are going to attend a family wedding. You have volunteered to help the bride by getting the seating for your extended family done.

You are to make a list of all your family who are alive including - grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins and your own immediate family. Create a family tree! Remember to find out the surnames of each family member.

You might also include partners of each member too!

2. In tables of 10, work out who would like to sit with who!

Discussion

Discuss this with your family.

Think about:

  • Will all the kids sit together?
  • Are there enough kids for one table?
  • Would you put the toddlers with their parents instead?
  • Would the younger teenagers prefer to sit with the adults?
  • Which adults would like to be with each other to make for a memorable and enjoyable evening at a family wedding

Did your family tell you any family stories about seating arrangements at any of the weddings they attended?

3. Create a table plan.

In this plan, you are to show all the circular tables, who is at each of these tables, the distance between the tables and a rectangle wedding party table. Remember to put  grandparents closest to the wedding party table.

You might want to stagger the tables so that each table can see the Head Table where the bridal party is seated.

4. Now that you have created your list and assigned each person to a table, you are to create a seating chart for the guests so they can find their table easily when they arrive at the wedding reception.

Look at the following sorts of seating charts and decide which chart you would find easiest to use and create a seating chart for your family:

5. Create a place card (a piece of cardboard folded in two like a tent) and write the name of each family member onto their individual place card.

You might like to decorate your place cards.

Do the Table Seating is only one aspect of the Wedding Coordinator's job. Write down and share what you thought about this job?

1. Your bride and groom are on a strict budget! But they do what to have a welcoming reception table for their guests and have asked you to create a beautiful centrepiece for each of the 12 tables.

You are to examine the following 22 centrepieces and decide which one would appeal to you! [And, hopefully the couple!]
