1. Vintage Wedding Cake or High Tea Stands are all the rage! This will be your product you are going to sell. You are to look into the idea of making and selling these beautiful stands. Read through the whole of this activity before you start to get an idea of what you need to do!
First, read through the following steps from The Guardian 2. Have a look at the following video to see if
you can create these marvellous stands.
2. Once you have decided you can create these stands, you need to assess the market for them. Ask around the school and your parents' friends. Will they buy these stands?
Remember to buy [cheaply!] from charity shops or beg from relatives any old plates - dinner, bread and butter or saucers. Keep a record of the amount of money you have spent in an Excel spreadsheet. A good way to find these plates is at any boot sales or local markets or fetes. A great way to buy the tiers between the plates is on eBay for around $3.70 each packet. 4. How will you sell these stands? What is your pitch? How will you convince people to buy these stands? a. What will be the price of your stands?
b. You need to find out where to sell these stands - markets are a great place! How will you promote your stands? What will be your story about selling these stands? Do you need to create a business card with your name and phone number? What will attract people to your stand? c. Go to the local markets with 5 stands made and sell them. d. Reflection. What profit did you make? Added value: Try making cupcakes to go on the plates!
