1. Jade Esler, 17 [2019] Jerrabomberra in
NSW ran her business The Sugar
Bite - she has since finished this business as it
provided her with enough money to pay for her flight lessons.
The Sugar Bite was a licenced food business with the ACT Department of
Health, with all required food handling certifications obtained. Jade sold
her cupcakes at EPIC Markets and The Old Depot Markets as well as selling to
local cafes – Jerrabomberra Café and Jamossa Café. She has now qualified as
a Pilot with the earnings from this business which unfortunately is now
closed. However, we can still learn a lot from Jade!

250g butter
500g icing sugar (sifted)
2 tsp milk
12 raspberries
Chocolate flakes (or chocolate chips)
Once the cakes have cooled completely, put the buttercream mixture
into a piping bag with a large star nozzle and squeeze plenty of
buttercream onto each cupcake.
Sprinkle chocolate flakes or chocolate chips over the top of the
buttercream and, finally, pop a raspberry on the top!

4. Work out the cost of each of your
cupcakes. If Jade sells each cupcake for $4 and they are similar to yours -
how much profit will she make per cupcake?
