Information, Media & Telecommunications - DIRECTOR OF FILMS, TV OR STAGE
Film Shots - What will it be? (inspired by Nathan Mullins, ACU Education student) Middle Secondary Australian Curriculum General Capability: Critical and creative thinking Australian Curriculum General Capability: Literacy
1. To learn the craft of being a Director, you need to know when to use different shots in a movie to create mood, show emotions, to show context or set the scene. You are to re-exam a film that you have already studied in class. You are to analyse this movie - short or long - according to examples of it's shots:
2. Get a definition of each of these shots. 3. Using a search engine, find an example of each of the shots above and fill out the worksheet (Word doc) - see the table below. Eg. type in "Extreme long shot" + title of movie into your search engine and you will get a range of images for you to select. 4. Analyse the purpose of each of the shots. Do they work in the film you are examining? How?
5.
Individually, you can now select a film that you know and enjoy. It is your
choice.
