Get the students to form a circle with their chairs or directly on the floor. Everyone is to be in the circle including the Teacher.

Using stimulus material, read the

Set up a Question Quadrant on the floor or on a whiteboard:

3. The students in each group are to come up with 4 questions - one for each quadrant about the stimulus material.

The Questions for Thinking are the hardest to come up with – but that is what we are aiming for.

Some examples of all types of questions:

  • What are the scenarios listed where full disclosure has not been given?

  • How far should disclosure go?

4. List all the questions for thinking on the whiteboard. Group those questions that are similar. Work out the most popular question for discussion.

5. Start the CoI discussion.

6. Divide your group into two. One group is to be the seller and one group is to be the buyer.

Write down all your thoughts, feelings and ideas about disclosure. Share your ideas with your group.

Discussion

7. Further Discussion

Discuss whether you would like to live in a house where a murder has taken place? Why? Why not? Give reasons.

8. Discuss the following question:

"Should the real estate agent disclose this event [murder] when they have been told by the valuer that the property value will be a lot lower and might not sell as a result of this disclosure?"
