1. As a class, read the following article from the UK in The Conversation 26 February 2018 Reading

The Conversation

2. You are going to find out if this is the case in Australia!

As a class, create a survey using Survey Monkey to find out about the sports coaches teaching you - their qualifications and if they are paid. Some of you might be Sports Coaches yourselves!

Take into account:

  • The level within the sport achieved by the Sports Coach
  • Whether they have a training or teaching background
  • The amount of time they dedicate to coaching - the game and the training sessions
  • Their relationship to any team members
  • Whether they are paid or not [some Sports Coaches at school are required to train so many teams each semester as part of their teaching]

Survey Monkey

3. Analyse the graphs produced by Survey Monkey. Which answer surprised you the most? Why? or Why not?

4. As a class, discuss the question

Discussion

"Do you think all Sports Coaches should be qualified and be paid to train children?"

You need to provide reasons for your answers.
