Writing and Instrument Making Primary & Middle
1. Choose a topic for you to write a song on and
brainstorm ideas based on this topic to include in your song.
2. Begin writing your song. Remember as
song includes versus (each different verse is different) and a chorus (the
same words repeated after each verse).
3. After your write your song make an instrument
(or use one at hand) to play to your song.
4. Practice your song and playing your instrument.
5. Using an iPad, camera or computer record
yourself singing your song and playing your instrument.
6. Write an explanation on your song
and instrument including:
- Why you chose the song topic?
- What is the meaning of the song?
- What emotions should someone feel while listening to your song?
- How did you create your instrument?
- Why did you choose this type of instrument?
- What would you do differently if you completed these activities
again?
Famous Musicians: Crossword Primary Middle Secondary
1. Research 15 to 20 musicians
2. Make a list of these musicians names and one
interesting fact.
E.g. Katy Perry - her first album was titled Katy Hudson 3. Using your list of musicians create your clues. 4. Using Instant Puzzle Maker, finalise your crossword and ask a friend to see if they can complete it.

Learning Activity 1. "Have you ever heard a famous song and thought “That sounds like another song?”. Well, you’re not the only one. Recently Ed Sheeran was accused in US court of copying another famous musician’s music. We find out all about music copyright and how to tell what’s copying and what’s not." This is the introduction to the ABC's BTN High 16 May 2023 In group of 3 - 4 students, you are to view the video and: a. Give an explanation of the term "Plagiarism". Why is it important in the music industry? Why does it matter? b. Explain in 3 sentences the Copyright Laws re: Music c. Provide the piece of music being disputed by Ed Sheeran versus the music of Marvin Gaye and note the similarities and differences. d. List all the artists shown in the BTN clip e. Using the Rolling Stone's template, write up the Title eg. Ed Sheeran vs Marvin Gaye and the dates; the Case; The Verdict and Why it matters.
2. As a group, discuss the ethics of Music Copyright Cases.
