1. Hire and view the classic - "Karate Kid" video (made in the '80s) (or simply watch the following clips from this movie below); or Cobra Kai, a TV series released in 2018 which can be seen on Netflix.

2. Two different philosophies about Karate and its use are portrayed. Eg. Kreese - "Mercy is for the weak. We do not train to be merciful here. A man confronts you on the street, he is your enemy. Enemies deserve no mercy. What is the problem Mr. Laurence?"

Find other examples in the video.

3. Answer the question: What is the true philosophy of Karate?

4. Create a Role Play showing the true philosophy of Karate.

1. You are to read some of the following article from Body Mind and Modem: A Handbook to the Martial Arts Reading

"While there are 180 styles of martial arts, the most common you might have heard of are Judo, Karate, MMA, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Krav Maga, and Jiu-Jitsu. They have been developed in areas such as Japan, China, and Israel."

2. Choose one style from those listed above or the Martial Arts you are currently studying and list 5 - 10 things that are "Good for you" and 5 things that "might not be the best for you". You can use the table within the article to start you off.
