1. In groups of 4 - 5 students, read the following article from The Conversation 30 August 2016  Reading

2. Divide into two groups: one for the "good move" and one group for " a step too far". Write down all the arguments put forward in the article for your group.

In your particular group, discuss the contents of this article. Can you come up with any other ideas to support your group's argument?

3. Survey another class' use of Fitbit or similar technology. Find out why individuals use this technology. Are the reasons any different to those presented in the article.

4. All the "good move" groups in the class, join together to collaborate on arguments for a debate.

Similarly, all the "a step too far" groups do the same thing.

5. As a class, debate the big question:

"The rise of the Fitbit kids: a good move or a step too far?"

6. Reflection

Reflection. Do you use a Fitbit or similar technology? Is it a good move for you? Why? Why not?

7. Read the following articles in The Conversation. Do these add to or diminish toReading your ideas?
