1. The ABC has created a series called "Jillaroo School". Five Australian women longing for adventure signed up to a course in the South Australian bush. They learnt to ride horses and muster cattle in the hope of changing their lives and landing jobs as jillaroos.

The jillaroos faced a team challenge on a practice muster, with chaotic results. Bill, their instructor took a next dramatic step in breaking in a young mare while shearing sheep, driving tractors and preg testing cattle - became all in a day's work for the jillaroos. The girls also learnt the basics of fencing, and, riding a motorbike. The Jillaroos tackled the branding and castration of calves too - all over the period of six weeks.

ABC Television Jillaroo School

Girls, here's a once in a lifetime opportunity with ABC TV. "Jillaroo School" will follow the journeys of the women selected for a Jillaroo training course, in a 6 x 30 min TV series, which will air next year. The course will give students enough training and practical experience to secure their own jobs working on the land.

So ladies, looking for something different in your life, a career change, the chance to follow your dreams, prove yourself or just want an adventure? The main prerequisites are, you must be: female, aged between 18 – 45, an Australian citizen or permanent resident and interested in a new challenge. You may be a passionate horsewoman, an enthusiastic amateur rider or you may never even have been on the back of a horse before - your riding ability is not judged for the selection process. The ABC is looking for a cross section of candidates, from all walks of life, to select from, for their documentary.

Come on, girls. How often do you get the chance to do something totally different with your life? South Australia's Bill Willoughby is an experienced horse master who has trained jackeroos and jillaroos all his life.
" The course will teach many different skills including how to ride horses, motorbikes, quad bikes, how to fence, wrangle cattle and generally work on a property. The participants will find it a challenging and rewarding experience, and will discover if they have what it takes to see it through to the end."

Mining has drawn Jackaroos away from the land, resulting in a shortage of skilled workers in rural areas. This very real issue will be addressed in the series.
