In this activity, students are to create their
own game of ‘Battleship’ using the Royal Australian Navy’s own ships
after investigation. There is graphing involved.
Activity 2: Knots & Knots: What Sailors
ought to know!

Students are to study a range of knots, work
out as a class (or family) the simplest to the hardest, select one
knot to practice; create the knot 3 times – collate all the times as
a class; graph the results and compare these results to their
earlier conjecture.

This lesson was developed by the University of
Edinburgh for students studying Biology in Years 8 – 12. It entails
getting the students to learn about DNA barcoding where specific DNA
sequences are used to identify different species. The big question
is whether pork sausages are 100% pork or not!
Activity 2: Sequence Bracelets
Primary
Years 5 - 6
Students are presented with different species
genomes. They are given the sequences and have to then match the
chemical bases (A-T or C-G) in a bracelet. This activity relies on
concentration.
Activity 3:
The Koala Genome
Project – a Listening and Viewing Research Project

This activity involves research and is suitable for Biology
students.

Cladogram including
a Minion classification.

This is a reasoning activity. Students are
given information and they have to work out the relationships

critical thinking skills. One activity out of nine is based on
Mathematics where the students are to view a video about the Waggle
Dance and create an infographic explaining the mathematics in the
video. The other eight activities are based on the Flow Hive, Bees,
Honey, Venn Diagram on the roles, creating a Tik-Tok on how Honey
Flow works.

Way of the Waggle Dance

Students are to use the Cornell Note-taking
Method to analyse the bees dance and share their findings with
another pair. They are to then play the “The Way of the Waggle
Dance” game created by Arizona State University and describe the
